The perfect* Smartphone - Lenovo (Ideaphone) K900

*Ah well, no one misses this. Conditions apply.

LENOVO- A brand we most commonly associate with only laptops and tablet PCs recently launched an set of smartphones with the Asian market being its target. How well does the most expensive phone in this set- Lenovo K900 fare?

The phone was launched with a high price tag of around 32-33k, but the prices were slashed a couple of weeks back to around 26k. [eBay lowest price- 24990]

Are you superficial?

If you're a guy who likes your better halves in perfect shape, this one is for you.

What attracted me most to this device was its elegant look- somewhat a well processed evolution of Galaxy S2 but far better than it. First of all, thickness- or rather call it thinness. Without intending any pun, its as slim as 6.9 mm! Unlike all the round cornered mobiles that have been launched by Samsung, Micromax and well every company in the last two years, this one boasts of sharp edges.

The Lenovo K900 sports a large screen, which is one of the first smartphones in the world to combine a 5.5-inch IPS display with 1920 x 1080 resolution and 401 ppi pixel density. It is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 2.This device touts a low magnetic property steel in combination with polycarbonate to offer users lavish style without compromising on antenna reception. The model that is available in India, and mostly only via the internet- has an elegant stainless steel back that exudes elegance.

Pocket-ability? When you think of a 5.5" screen you may think that it's just not going to fit inside your pocket. I was however surprised when its sleek shape slid easily into my pocket.

What's inside?

If you're a guy who likes your better halves with a genius brain and inner beauty and all, this phone is still for you.

To put it in one word- IntelIt is powered by Intel's recently-announced Clover Trail+ platform (likely an Atom Z2580 clocked at 2GHz). For those who missed the Intel keynote, Clover Trail+ is the much improved yet still secretive successor to the relatively quiet Medfield, though it is odd that Lenovo only says "the forthcoming Intel Atom processor platform for smartphones" instead of just "Clover Trail+" in the press release.

It is powered by Android 4.2 and though the interface is not so similar to the stock Jellybeans that are in the market, it can easily be modified.

Pros
  • Very big screen with 5.5-inch Full HD
  • High resolution camera : 13 MP rear camera using the Sony Exmor BSI sensor and F1.8 lens
  • Very fast performance : 2Ghz dual-core Intel Atom Z2580 processor with 2GB of RAM
  • Running the lastest Android Version 4.2 Jelly Bean
  • Price- it may be because Lenovo doesn't enjoy a brand image in smartphones yet or maybe an aggressive pricing policy but compared to other competitors in the price range, it beats them hands down.
Cons
  • No LED indicator
  • No SD card slot (Though you have 11-12 GB of internal storage available to you)
  • Could heat up fast if you're simultaneously running several applications.
So what were the conditions that were applicable? It's a good phone but not just perfect yet- see cons. However, given its price tag, I'd still give it a

★    ☆ (4/5)

So if you're a guy, the only time the phone is not for you is when you want to keep dumping it with useless crap 'cause like most better halves it doesn't take more than 12GB of it. I'm not too sure if the 'heating up' con would be too appropriate an anoalogy.

And what if you're a girl? Ignore everything I wrote above and click on-http://www.ebay.in/itm/LENOVO-K900-Soft-Back-case-Matte-ANTI-SKID-SIDE-GRIP-BLACK-/151105753844?pt=IN_Mobile_Accessories&hash=item232e9ad2f4&_uhb=1#ht_829wt_1139 to get a PINK COVER for this phone and enjoy.

NOTE- I haven't compared it to Canvas 4 simply because though Canvas 4 boasts of great features, it's quite the China product. If it works then lottery, if not then we at http://whatthetechindia.blogspot.in/ wish you all the best for your future negotiation and arguments with their service centres which in no case end before 2 months. :)
